Birth And Early Childhood

Eric Ochieng Waoh, affectionately known as “Pape,” was born on 2nd November 1983 to the late Emmanuel Waoh Onyango and Loice Aoko Waoh. He was raised in a loving and close-knit family where he learned the values of humility, respect, responsibility, and compassion. From an early age, Eric displayed a cheerful personality and an independent spirit that would characterize his life. His warm smile, sense of humor, and ability to connect with people made him a joy to be around. Family and friends remember him as a loving son and brother whose presence brought comfort and happiness to those around him.

Baptism And Christian Journey

Eric was baptized at Nanyuki Catholic Church in December 1983, marking the beginning of his Christian journey.
He was raised in the Catholic faith and grew up guided by Christian principles of love, kindness, for- giveness, and service to others. His faith influenced his relationships and shaped the compassionate and caring individual that many came to know and love.

Education

Eric began his education at Madaraka Primary School in 1989, where he laid the foundation for his academic and personal development.
Upon completing his primary education, he proceeded to Dagoretti High School for his O-Level studies. During this period, he built lifelong friendships and developed qualities of discipline, resilience, and leadership. He later joined St. Mary’s School for his A-Level education, where he continued to excel academically and socially. Those who studied with him remember him as a friendly, approachable, and determined individual who formed lasting relationships wherever he went.

His educational journey equipped him with the confidence and skills that would later serve him well in business and entrepreneurship.

Career and Work Life

Eric was a dedicated entrepreneur with an admirable drive for success. He believed strongly in hard work, self-reliance, and creating opportunities not only for himself but also for others.
In recent years, he devoted much of his time and energy to farming in Naivasha, where he undertook large-scale onion farming; He approached every season with determination, optimism, and pride, finding great fulfillment in the work he loved. His legacy of dedication and entrepreneurial spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Family Life

Family was at the very center of Eric’s life. He was the cherished son of the late Emmanuel Waoh Onyango and Loice Aoko Waoh. He was a loving brother to the late Jackline Awuor, Maureen Waoh-Tobin, Brenda Waoh, the late Olga Waoh, and Martin (Ken) Ogila.

Eric’s life was richly woven into the lives of his family members. He maintained close relationships with his siblings, extended family, and friends, often serving as a source of encouragement, counsel, and support. His generosity, protective nature, and unwavering loyalty endeared him to all who knew him.

One of Eric’s greatest joys was being an uncle. He will be fondly remembered as an adoring uncle to Elvis Collins Otieno, Arnold Odero, Jibril Waoh, lan Duncan Okoth, Thelma Julia Achieng, and Samantha Loice. To them, Uncle Pape was more than a relative; he was a mentor, supporter, role model, and friend. He cele- brated their achievements, encouraged their ambi- tions, and always made time to share a story, a laugh, or words of wisdom.

Extended Family

Eric was the beloved grandson of the late Mzee Simon Anyango Waoh, the late Mama Magdalene, the late Mama Anne, the late Mama Clementina of Kitale, the late Mzee Elkana Ogila, the late Mama Abigail Randa, and the late Rispa Adoyo.

He was a nephew to the late James, Opiyo, Atieno, the late Esdor, Fr. John, Leonidah, Margaret, Charles, Martin, Elly Odhiambo, John Owidi and Elkanah Omondi who cherished him deeply. He was also a beloved cousin to Washington, Ameri, Dorcus, Florence, Magdalene, Selestine, Laureen, Elton, Winnie, Virginia Onyango, Eric Orieno, Emmah Akinyi, Everlyne Atieno, John Odhiambo, Ann Achiamba Mutua, Winnie Akinyi, Paul Maxwell Odhiambo, June Akoth, Elton Ndung’u, Lucerne Achieng, Clara Auma, Paul Odhiambo, Stephanie Anyango, Dismas Omondi, Charles Omondi, Mark Ochieng’, Mary Atieno, Daniel Ochieng’, Tyrah Akinyi, Florence Wasonga, Felix Ogondo, Joseph Waoh, Charles Waoh, Dennis Waoh, Eunice Waoh, Michael Waoh, Morris Waoh, Ochieng’ K’Akwir, Pascal Orieno, Magdalen Atieno, Akinyi K’Akwir, Fred Juma, the late, Douglas Ogando, Stanly Ogando, Justus Ogando, Ann Ogando, Evans Onyango, Caro Waoh, Adhiambo, Akoth, George Oucho, Solestine Adhiambo, Maurine, Seline Akinyi, Jacky Odhiambo, Anthony Otieno, Washington Ogutu, Mary Atieno (Ameri), Sande Waoh, Emmanuel Omondi, the late Nyaber, Dorcas Nasimiyu, Christine, Penninah, the late Andrea, Erastus Bunyasi.and a wide circle of relatives and friends whose lives he touched through his kindness, warmth, and genuine concern for others. Eric shared special bonds with members of his extended family and took pride in maintaining family connections. Whether through family gatherings, celebrations, visits, or simple conversations, he valued the relationships that united the Waoh and Ogila families. His presence brought people together, and his memory will continue to unite those who loved him.

His Final Journey

On 11th July 2026, tragedy struck when Eric was involved in a road accident along Mbagathi Road. His sudden departure shocked and saddened family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew him. While his passing has left an immense void, his life remains a powerful testimony of love, resilience, generosity, and unwavering commitment to family and friendship. Though gone too soon, his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched.
